A look back at the closing event of the exhibition The Hoodie, in which Flora van Gaalen (Het Nieuwe Instituut) and Malique Mohamud (Concrete Blossom) explore the collaboration of their organisations. They look at how it began, the forms it has taken and how the institute works with existing and new public groups. They also answer the question: what basis is there for future cooperations? 

Interaction designer Florian van Zandwijk guided us through a hoodie-based reflection on reality, and how digital media changes the way we see it.

On May 31 and June 1 in collaboration with YouthDem and Het Nieuwe Instituut, Concrete Blossom is organising the on- en offline live-broadcast The Hoodie - Televised. With contributions from Lou Stoppard, Timothy Sabajo (Patta), Chinouk Filique, Richard Lopes Mendes (Clan de Banlieue), Jordan Soediono (SUMIBU), Abderrahmane Trabsini (Daily Paper) and a Bring Your Own Merch (BYOM) screenprinting hangout at Middellandplein in Rotterdam on Sunday.

‘Art-directucator’ Pia Canales hosted the Sunday Scroll on 12 April on Facebook Live. This digital detour was an exploration of themes in The Hoodie exhibition that speak to her as a designer. Her scroll will focus on the hoodie in subcultures.

A live conversation with the artist Bogomir Doringer, who will discuss surveillance, fear, lust, temptation - and his contribution to The Hoodie.

The concepts of diversity and inclusiveness have come to the fore in recent years, yet we have seen little or no structural change in the staffing of cultural institutions. We do, however, see an increasing number of cultural institutions attempting to attract new target groups (IE young audiences with migrant backgrounds) by means of countless, but always only temporary, innovations. What are the implications of this? Whose lived experiences are put in the spotlight, and who benefits from them?
